A CHARITY SINGLE TO HELP RAISE MONEY FOR KAREN PUGH

If you can please donate £1.00 or any further donation to help save a life.
My deepest gratitude!

Below is her story, written by my wonderful friend and her wonderful daughter, Katie.

"Karen Pugh - my beautiful mum has recently been diagnosed with Grade IV Glioblastoma which is an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Whilst mum has undergone a successful operation to remove what they could safely due to the nature of the tumour there will always remain parts of the cancer that will continue to grow unless mum undergoes more treatment of which the NHS are unable to offer us at this stage.

We are trying to raise enough money to allow mum the opportunity she deserves to undergo treatment within the UK privately but with this means that we will need to try and fund that ourselves.

To put it simply without treatment mum only has a matter of weeks to live.

This is where we are hoping that all of mums wonderful friends and family can step in to try and support in any way they can to allow her the fair opportunity to fight this.

Mum has spent her life working hard and giving to others whilst not asking for anything back and so now its her turn, and ours, to lean on you all in this difficult time to give anything you can to help so that mum can continue to be the most amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, grandparent, colleague and friend.

The treatment we are trying to get mum is Proton Beam Therapy a newer way of Radiotherapy that only a few places in the UK offer - failing to get this treatment we will be looking to exhaust all other avenues of treatment to allow mum the chance to fight.

We wanted to share how strong and brave mum has been so far on this journey to hopefully give you some insight into why this woman is so amazing.

4 weeks ago, mum was taken to hospital as she was confused and was very unsteady on her feet. After undergoing some scans, the doctors told us the worst news you can never prepare yourself for and told us that mum only had a matter of HOURS to live and to say our goodbyes.

She was admitted into hospital there and then and due to COVID was allowed no visitors - can you imagine being told that news and then being taken away from your only comfort and put into a ward, alone. Mum lost use to the left side of her body due to the pressure on her brain and we were told that this would unlikely come back. We did the only thing we could do - we prayed.

The next 24 hours was incredibly difficult but the next morning she was still there, still fighting - the doctors were silly to think she would go down that easy. Mum was referred to St George's where they quickly took her in for an operation and removed part of the tumour - again was allowed no visitation before or during this life threatening operation. Of course she woke up after the operation, asked for some chocolate and continued to fight.

As mum was recovering from her operation, the importance of occupational and physio therapy was paramount to ensure her brain was functioning and to try and recover use of her left side. But of course that would have been easy - mum unfortunately then caught COVID whilst in the hospital. Just something else to add to her already incredibly difficult recovery. She was then put into a COVID ward which meant she was unable to leave her room to go to the toilet, to see or speak to anyone and all her other recovery help was stopped. A huge step back for mum and devastating for us all.

Four weeks later and having gone through all of that my amazing mum and your amazing friend WALKED out of the hospital with her head held high and she said...

I AM READY. Let's fight. and so that is exactly what we will do.
We will fight this, all of us, together.

Thank you for reading my mums story. If there is anything you can do to support or just by sharing this post we will be very grateful.

The Pugh Family xx"

LYRICS

Hey, you are on my mind today
A vision dressed in white
I can’t see through the tears I’ve cried
But I know you’re still in sight

I’ve been saving all the fragments of my heart that has capsized
So when you don’t feel strong enough, you can have a piece of mine

Have you ever felt a love like this before
And with every breath we’re filling you with more

Stay, lay your head upon the shoulders of the people at your side
They’ll carry all your burdens and they’ll do it all with pride
Hold on just a moment more, look into their eyes
Everything you’ve shared with them, they will always keep inside

Have you ever felt a love like this before
And with every breath we’re filling you with more

Oh oh

Hold your head up high
Put your hand in mine
Pause the time to stay right here but if I could I would rewind

A woman who is strong
A mother who is loved
A million ways to say your name and we’ll never let it up

Have you ever felt a love like this before
We’re filling you with more

With every breath we’re filling you with more

Hey, you are on my mind today
